Can a person undo cardio work by lifting weights during the same workout?

Question by wyldflwr34: Can a person undo cardio work by lifting weights during the same workout?
I’ve heard it said that a person can undo the good they are doing by a good cardio work out – if they go after that and lift weights…in the same time period. Is that true?

Best answer:

Answer by Nico W
No and yes. You can’t undo the fat loss since weights also make you lose fat
However, cardio deteriorates muscles and weights increase them which negates muscle loss and growth so you’ll stay the same muscle wise that is. Yes you’ll lose fat still

how do you set up a successful work out routine?

Question by ed b: how do you set up a successful work out routine?
I am trying to set up the best possible workout routine to suit my needs. I want to build muscle, but definitely don’t feel the need to become huge. I play Ultimate Frisbee. If you don’t know what that is, it is a sport that requires me to be fast and have high endurance. Kinda similar to the speed and endurance required for a soccer player, so I want to avoid losing any of my speed and endurance. I have access to a gym at my college, so i have access to a wide variety of machines. I have been going to the gym and running on the track and doing push-ups and sit ups or whatever, but i don’t really think that it is doing too much for me anymore besides keeping me in shape, which is good I guess. I also need to incorporate running, and other aerobic exercise into it so that i don’t fall out of shape for frisbee. If you could direct me somewhere that will help me create a weight lifting routine that will best suit my needs, that would be great. Somewhere that actually gives me a good weight lifting routine for my needs would be even better. Thanks!

It will definitely help but you need to mix it up. My personal trainer says you need to shock your system to keep producing great results. Your body will get used to the same routine and start to burn less fat. You need to keep changing your routine to keep the body reacting in maximum effectiveness.

Is it important to work on cardio and get all the weight off first before working with AB machines?

Question by JerseyTaughtMe: Is it important to work on cardio and get all the weight off first before working with AB machines?
I’ve been going to the gym, doing 20 mins on elliptical, 2 miles on cycling, and I’ve been doing exercises on the ab machines, my question is — is is important to keep at cardio and shed the pounds before working on the ab machines ? Or will the ab machines also help shed pounds .. thanks!

Not at all. Building muscle mass will actually make you burn more calories at rest – 50 more calories per pound of new muscle.

will ab exercises work when u have a layer of fat on top.?

Question by armani66: will ab exercises work when u have a layer of fat on top.?
I want to lose about 5 inches of my waist and thats all. I have been doing cardio and lost 12lbs and 1 inch off my waist. now I am just interested in losing my belly fat. How can i focus on that without losing weight anywhere else

Answer by The Girl
Unfortunately target weight loss is a myth. If you keep losing weight eventually it will leave your belly. But don’t let that discourage you from ab exercises. When the fat is gone your awesome abs will be waiting :)

will doing sit ups and other exercises that work your ab area actually flatten your stomach?

Question by ash xx: will doing sit ups and other exercises that work your ab area actually flatten your stomach?

yes, and no.

Your best bet is just to lose weight

But building muscle can make them more noticable, but if fat is still present then it will stack on top of the muscle.

I have a 4 pack due to slight pudge on my belly, but I usually never work up the motivation to get rid of it.

3 days of weight lifting and 1 day of EXTENSIVE cardio? Does that work?

Question by Member121231231: 3 days of weight lifting and 1 day of EXTENSIVE cardio? Does that work?
I work out for 3 days and take 1 day off.. That’s my routine.. I warm up with 100 calories before working out and bla bla bla..

I was thinking of keeping the off day that I have for extensive cardio.. Since I also need to lose fats.. I was thinking of still doing 100 calories before working out on each of the 3 days.. And then doing 1000 or so on the day that I have off..!!

does exercise equipment such as ab-king-pro etc. really work in reducing the tummy size or in weght reduction?

Question by monjeet23: does exercise equipment such as ab-king-pro etc. really work in reducing the tummy size or in weght reduction?

Best answer:

I think as long as you use them in the right way and do other exercises e.g aerobics/swimming to suppliment it, theres no reason why they shouldnt work.
If they dont work then its false advertising.

Question by ♥Animals|Music♫: Exercise Physiology Home Work Help!! Can anyone figure this out?
We are doing biomechanics in my Exercise Physiology class and we are making “free” body diagrams. Anyone know how these work? I know that they are basically an outline of a person and they have arrows showing forces or something. What are these arrows for? I am doing my project on a tennis serve and I need a drawing with the arrows for the static phase, dynamic phase 1, and dynamic phase 2. PLEASE HELP!!

Is my work enough exercise, or should I actually work out at home?

Question by I Carry It In My Heart: Is my work enough exercise, or should I actually work out at home?
At work I’m on my feet for four to eight hours, five days a week, with no break. I even eat standing and can only take a few bites at a time because we are so busy. I’m constantly moving my arms, squatting, and walking around. I also walk to work, which is only about fifteen minutes round trip, then I stretch before I go to bed because my legs get tight from standing for so long. Is this an excuse to not exercise at home, or am I just being a wimp?
I’m trying to lose weight, too

Answer by horsinround2do
There is no cardio benefit from what you describe and adding strength training would increase your muscle mass. I guess what I am saying is, no. It’s not enough. You are very active, but are missing those components.
