how to add pilates to your cardio and strength training workout?

Question by kburgess612: how to add pilates to your cardio and strength training workout?
i do cardio monday , wednesday, friday. strength training tuesday thursday. saturday all together. i recently read about pilates and heard you should do 3 days a week but not in a row. so would it be best to add pilates to my cardio days or my strength training days ? can cardio and pilates be done on the same day together? or is that too much for the muscles?

Actually Pilates is a grat cool down for you after a cardio session. Your muscles are already nice and warm and you will benefit from the stretch and the strengthening. In time you will become more limber. Sounds like your training schedule is pretty heavy. Remember adequate rest is a part of good results too. Hope this helps. Thanks.

I really wanna tone my body nad make it sexy, but I HATE cardio so much.

Answer by angrysandwichguy_2007
Can you? Yes. Should you? Well, pilates and cardio are two completely different things. Pilates primarily hits your core muscles and cardio hits your heart and lungs. Really, you should be doing both.

Is pilates considered a cardio workout?

Question by xoxo_sexy_biatch_xoxo: Is pilates considered a cardio workout?
I usually go to the gym 3 times a week and want to fill up my time there doing all the cardio I can. I’ve been going to a pilates class once a week, is that considered cardio as well? Does it burn a lot of calories?

Best answer:

Answer by DIALL911FOREMERGENCY
Yes pilates burns alot of calories and is amazing for your body however it is NOT considered a cardio workout. Try going for a run or doing 40 mins on an eliptical. Just as a heads up not many people know that a steady walk on a treadmill with an incline burns more calories than running!

Is pilates enough for core strength or should I be supplementing with other ab exercises?

Question by liketotallysick: Is pilates enough for core strength or should I be supplementing with other ab exercises?
I like to have a balaned workout regiment and for core strength I do pilates 2-3 times per week. Should I be doing other ab exercises in addition to this?

Best answer:

Answer by Mara
Your pilates exercises should be fine for now, but just remember to change up the workout every two weeks (or at least once a month) or your body will become accustomed to doing those exercises and they won’t be beneficial anymore.

Also, make sure that your core exercises include all parts of the core, not just abs. Make sure you’re working your sides and back.

Is it OK to do a cardio workout today if I did pilates yesterday?

Question by xlilxkimx: Is it OK to do a cardio workout today if I did pilates yesterday?
I have been doing this for a long time but today my friend told me that I shouldn’t go to cardio today because I did pilates yesterday. But I have read that you can’t just do pilates to lose weight and that you need to do cardio too. She said something about if I don’t take a break today then I won’t build muscle and I will break my body. Is this true?

Best answer:

Answer by Lindsay
I really don’t think so. As long as you feel up to exercising you should go for it. Let you body tell you when or when not to exercise, not your friends. Hope I’ve helped.
