How should I lift weights if I want definition instead of size?

Question by Gazza Kelly: How should I lift weights if I want definition instead of size?
I was lifting for a while but started noticing my muscles getting bigger and leaner but I don’t want that. I want to stay the same size but just look muscular and toned. I can lift 3×10 7.5 kg dumbells for biceps and bench 40kg 3×10(indication of my strength) but I know you have to do more reps and less weight for definition but how much? can someone suggest a weight lifting routine for me now that you know my strength. I’m a pretty small and somewhat skinny guy and I would like to stay that way but just look muscular and toned.

You’ll want to tone up then. To tone up, you should do 4-5 sets of 15-20 reps using light weights.

Should I do my cardio workout before or after I lift weights?

Question by ms_adrianblack: Should I do my cardio workout before or after I lift weights?

Best answer:

Answer by Brandi R
Ideally, you should do your cardio BEFORE you do your weights. Your cardio workout allows your muscles to “warm-up”, as does plenty of stretching, it also elevates your heart-rate gradually instead of all of a sudden.

What is the best kind of shoe to workout in, run, cardio, box, lift weights in and all around train hard in?

Question by hollywood_skatergirl: What is the best kind of shoe to workout in, run, cardio, box, lift weights in and all around train hard in?
Also the best place to shop for the shoes? I do have some soreness in my knee, from injuring it a while back, and I don’t want to feel that when I exercise.:) Thanks for your input! Have a stress free day!

Best answer:

Answer by Adam D
As for the boxing, you might need something special, but other than that, running will be the hardest on a shoe and the most damaging without good equipment, so you should look at durable running shoes.

All shoe brands have good and bad styles, you’ve got to go to a shoe store and look around. You should talk to your doctor first, they probably can recommend something specific that will help with the knee issue, since it was an injury you will have to account for it when you buy shoes, at least for a while.

How to lift saggy breast at home?

Question by SwagPincess: How to lift saggy breast at home?
Any at home exercises I can do?

Best answer:

Answer by Luthien C
try to build up your pectoral muscles. they are known to give a woman’s breasts more perk, and shape. some pectoral exercises you can do are push ups. and if theyre too difficult to do on the floor, start by leaning on the wall and doing wall push ups.

Go to body conditioning class at your highschool or look up marine corps recon workouts on youtube or even go ask your father for some tips he sounds like he’s familiar with weights. But your fathers trying to tell you not to focuse on on particular spot. Work arms and shoulders one day, legs on another, and dont forget your core meaning your abs pecks back, to become stronger you need to make your whole body stronger. If you can pick up 400 pounds with your arms make sure your legs and your core are ready for that amount of weight too.

Which is the best routine to lift weights?

Question by Jake: Which is the best routine to lift weights?
I go to the gym 5 days a week to weight train and drink a protein shake after the workout, and was wondering is full body every day, alternating upper body and lower body, or targeting one body part each day the most effective?

Best answer:

Answer by Sexercise is the best workout (=
targeting one body part a day is TONS more effective…

I cannot do an entire body workout in one day with my routine..i’d die before i’m even 1/4 of the way through..

my shortest exercise is chest and that’s 7 exercises…

bench presses (5 sets @ 12-8 reps)
decline bench presses (4 sets @ 12-8reps)
barbell pullovers (4 sets @12-8 reps)
dumbell bench presses (4 sets @12-8 reps)
pushups weighted + declined (4 sets till failure)
one handed pushups (4 sets till failure)
incline bench presses (5 sets 12-8 reps)

then arms, and then shoulders and then back..and then forearms.
i’ll even put core as “lower body” for the hell of it..because legs+core is pretty easy to do in the same workout session.

yeah…i think you get the idea..
