an excellent exercise you can do it at home in front of your TV:
Attach a couple of ankle weights to your ankles.
Lay down on the floor or any other hard
surface. Use an exercise rug so as not to bruise your spine off the
floor. Put your hands behind your head, or spread them wide. Lift
your legs perpendicular to the floor, stop for a second. Lower the
legs down. Repeat ten times, stop. Turn on your stomach, raise on
your hands, with the lower part of the body on the floor, as if
trying to look at the ceiling. Turn back, do another set. Do three
sets with ten repetitions every day. In a week, you should see the
results. Once you are used to the exercise, and your muscles won’t
get stronger anymore, add weight to your ankle weights. Remember:
repeating the same easy exercise many times won’t help. Do it only
with the weights. Simple leg raises do not work. Use weights,
they do wonders. Stretch your spine between repetitions. Be careful
not to go for too heavy weight at once. Do not increase the weights
continuously, stop when your abs are defined – too heavy weights
will lead to injuries.

just the fact that u are doing phisical activity that you enjoy is a winning! i personally think is a lil bit too much of cardio. you need to incorporate some type of weight lifting in between, and make sure to take care of your fuel (what you eat) its natural to get hungrier when you work out, so eat, but eat healthy. good luck!

Answer by Tasha J
here are some good workout routines for you without no weights:
day 1- walk 3 miles
day 2- do 3 sets of 25 of lunges, squats, walking lunges, backward lunges, front kicks, back kicks, side kicks, jumping jacks
day 3- jog around the neighborhood, include sprints! jog for 4 minutes and sprint for 2 minutes..that should intensify your workout
day 4- go to the library and borrow a dvd of pilates or yoga! its for free and this is an excellent workout
the reason i am giving you a variety is because if you do the same workout, you may hit a plateau (meaning you stop losing weight and stop seeing results)
good luck!

Would cycling in a gym be a good enough cardio workout?
Question by : Would cycling in a gym be a good enough cardio workout?
Best answer:
Answer by John B
It all depends on how much effort you put in, and how long you do it for.
If you warm up correctly, and then get your heart rate up, and keep it there for a reasonable time, say over half an hour, then it will give you a good enough workout.
If you don’t like cycling in traffic, and can’t get to quiet roads, then it’s OK, but it can’t beat a ride in the country, and it’ll be uniform effort, because there will be no hills.

What’s a Good 5-Day A Week Strength Training Routine?
Question by Zee: What’s a Good 5-Day A Week Strength Training Routine?
I’m 22 years old, 5’11″, 154# with 14% body fat. I’m trying to bulk up for a few months, followed by a cutting diet, where I want to lose body fat. Now during bulk up phase, I am wondering what’s the best 5-day a week strength training program like say, Monday through Friday?
Here’s my current routine:
Monday- cardio
Tuesday- back and abs
Wednesday- chest and biceps
Thursday- cardio
Friday- shoulders and abs
Saturday- legs and triceps
Sunday- Off!
I know I should limit my cardio during bulk up and that is why I want a good 5-day a week weight lifting program so I can bulk up faster. I want to get rid of my current routine because too much cardio may lead to a loss of muscle mass. Btw, my diet is excellent- I’m taking 1.5g of protein and moderate carbs to give me energy for workouts. I also drink whey protein shakes before and after workout, along with creatine. I also know that in order to grow, you must give your muscles rest.
Any idea if I should pursue 5-day a week weight lifting routine? If so, what are the best ones that give you results? Intermediate weight lifter here! THANKS!!

your workout sound ok. i’m not a fan of bulking and cutting. i prefer the max-ot way.
now you said your intermediate. so thats like in the gym a year?
then i would recommend the max-ot way. ast-ss.com
read up on what they say. they talk and talk and talk but you’ll get the point of it. the overloading.
go for the single group a day routine.
lats(back)
pecs(chest)
arms (biceps triceps and forearms)
legs(quads hamstrings and calves)
deltoids & traps (shoulders and traps-that neck type muscle)
one a day. don’t combine chest and back. different muscles completely. need separate days.
if you want to split don’t do chest and biceps . (opposing muscles)
work your chestwith triceps and your back with biceps.
that way your not in a circuit.
1.5? thats a bit too much. it’ll go waste and you’ll end up blowing quite a bit more on those shakes.
aim for 1 gram. the maximum amounts being pre and post workout and before you sleep.
ast-ss.com will give you all the info you need (very very slowly)
make sure its ast-ss not astss or whatever.
the max ot website. its free.
goodluck

What type of cardio should i do and is my current workout method good?
Question by Nathan: What type of cardio should i do and is my current workout method good?

Then i do as many pushups as i can until i physically cant do it and fall. Im looking into doing cardio too so my abs can show. Any suggestions of the type of cardio i can do? And should i continue with the pushups and situps every other night?

Answer by severus
Cardio: Get your heart rate up to 85% of your capacity for at least 30 minutes, which is the latest recommendation. for example, run for 40 minutes, allowing five minutes to warm up and five minutes at the end to cool down.
The other business of sit ups and pull ups and push ups, vary the set reps numbers. don’t strain your lower lumbar area. Have someone evaluate your form. Don’t let inertia propel you, but use the muscles, then, you could do less.

Crunches and push-ups work many of your major muscle groups without the need for extra equipment. For cardio, you can turn up the music and dance like crazy, or jog in place, or invest a few bucks in a DVD (I love the Bellydancing for Beginners DVD, since it’s a great workout that also feels like I’m learning something). You can also throw yourself into your everyday chores and errands and get some workout potential out of those; I wrote a blog entry (below) about sneaky ways to get some exercise out of everyday routines, so that might help you, too. Good luck!

Answer by Mase
Everyone make the mistake that if you have belly fat to work out the belly to get rid of it….. nope, you got to work out the full body.
It doesn’t really matter what you eat (besides the obvious junk food) and when you eat it, as long as it has the nutrients your body needs and you give it to your body when it needs it. You cant forget protein, which is not only a main building block for your body but for your mind as well. I will explain.
One of the worst things you can do to your body is stop eating. Your body needs fuel just like your car needs fuel. And just like your car, the better the fuel and oil is, the better the cars performance, the better the food and liquid is that you put in your body with too make you “run” better.
If you are trying to lose fat. Try to raise your metabolism by eating smaller meals, more nutritious meals, and about five or six meals throughout the day.
Also, remember that if you are working out you are also building muscle, and muscle weighs more than fat does. So as you lose the fat and gain the muscle your weight might not adjust for a while until your muscle building reaches a plateau and your body begins to really tare away fat.
If you do not want to eat five or six small meals a day. Eat three meals a day, smaller portions, then between breakfast and lunch have a healthy snack or meal replacement shake, and another between lunch and dinner.
The idea is to teach your body to get rid of all extra fuel it doesn’t need, which are fats, carbs, and simple sugars for the most part. And once your body begins to understand that you are giving it the fuel it needs when it needs it, then your body will no longer store fat cells as a fuel reserve.
It is also a good idea to use a body cleanser, or detoxify before beginning any change in diet. Especially if you are going to begin eating healthier. The process might cause head aches or muscle cramps depending on what your body has become used to. Also diarrhea is a common side effect of most cleansing programs, but don’t worry this is a sign that your body is getting rid of the toxic substances. The cleans will help your body to easily extract the nutrients it needs from the food you intake and bypass the rest as waste.
To expedite the process it always helps to concentrate on full body workouts to keep energy storage empty. Also, drink water, water is used to clean your body inside and out. Stay away from caffeine and soda.
This will take time. But once you are able to achieve routine with your eating habits it is one of the easiest ways to keep the fat off.
So with this, your diet can be very flexible as well. You can have sweets and things but for best results I would stay away from all simple sugars, like candy.
Good luck and God bless.

Is this a good cardio workout?
Question by Tom: Is this a good cardio workout?
My driveway is fairly steep, about 30 degrees, and about 200 feet long. Would sprinting up it and walk/jogging down it be a good cardiovascular workout? If so, how many times should I go up and down it? By the way, the reason I don’t just jog is that I need a semi-muscular leg workout too. Maybe this will help with that.
Best answer:
Answer by Amy H
That’s a pretty creative workout. Instead of just doing some random number of sets, why don’t you see how many times you can make it up and back in 5 minutes? That way you can really push yourself. I guarantee that will be much more impactful than just doing 8-10 sets at your own pace. You can start adding to it to make it more challenging and interesting. For example, maybe see how long it would take you to do five rounds of: 25 squats, sprint up the drive way, 10 push-ups, walk back down. You’re only limited by your imagination.
Good luck!

change it up! run intervals, find some fun exercise videos, think about yoga, pilates or tai bo. the most important thing about exericise is sticking with it. and that means variety. and get some good music or a tv or movie going while you’re running. that will help in a wonderous way!
