I weighed 330 lbs. Now I weigh 250. I eat a little less than 1800 cal a day of highly nutritious, organic food. On saturday I eat up to 2500 calories. Through cardio, I burn 300 to 400 per day. I have stopped losing weight. I have changed my cardio routine and added weight lifting. Do I need to eat more and if so, how much more?

Cardio Before an After workout?

I’m planning to start working out again in next few days; weight training, with the goal of gaining muscle an trimming fat (like all the others). Recently though I was wondering if I should do a 30min cardio before my workout, to get my blood going in my body. Or should I do 15mins before lifting, and then 15mins cooldown after lifting. Which one will have a better effect for losing weight?

do a warm up of 5-10 min of very light cardio then 30 -45 min of weight training followed by 30-60 min of cardio.

I’ve been going to the gym, doing 20 mins on elliptical, 2 miles on cycling, and I’ve been doing exercises on the ab machines, my question is — is is important to keep at cardio and shed the pounds before working on the ab machines ? Or will the ab machines also help shed pounds .. thanks!

Not at all. Building muscle mass will actually make you burn more calories at rest – 50 more calories per pound of new muscle.

It’s fine to eat before cardio if you are really hungry but you wouldn’t want a large heavy meal. Try having a piece of fruit or something when you first wake up. Do your cardio and then have a little more to eat.

It is to get the muscles warm and flexible, with plenty of blood flowing through them. This helps to avoid sprains etc.

I’d give it at least 3 hours prior. Only because often enough it can wake your body up and have an influence on how well you sleep. The plus side is that it’s been shown that once you are asleep you’ll tend to get a better rest. Also you are going to want to eat some carbs and protein after you work out to replenish your energy systems.

i dont eat many carbs during the day, my morning bowl of cereal is my carb fix. should i wait until after my hour of cardio to eat it? would my workout be more effective that way? iv had this routine for over a year.

I go every 3 or 2 days, I start with 10 minutes on the track as warm up then a routine of weight lifting
Well Im not really trying to loose weight, Im trying to build muscle so I was thinking about eating something with carbohydrates right before starting my routine, but I am not sure what to eat

Fruits(ex:Banana,apple,etc.) and granola bar or maybe a salad. Then after you workout have some carbs. =]

After. You shouldn’t eat before exercising. An hour after eating.. the food hasn’t really moved much from your stomach.
