I get “bloated” after I do crunches or other ab exercises?
Question by BBBBABY!: I get “bloated” after I do crunches or other ab exercises?
After doing a pilates class or a high number of crunches, my stomach sticks out and looks bloated for a day or two afterwards, until it goes back to being relatively flat. Is this heard of?
I’m small, 90 lbs and 5’0, and I just want to tone up. I’ve only started doing this regularly within the last month or two, so will my abs eventually adjust and not become bloated anymore? Does anybody know?

the only thing i can think of is that your ab muscles swell up just like any other muscle does on your body from working out. This is often refered to as a “Pump”. It is caused by the tearing of our muscle tissue and the blood that flows in there. So to an extent yes this is probably normal.

Cardio Before an After workout?
Question by Luke H: Cardio Before an After workout?
I’m planning to start working out again in next few days; weight training, with the goal of gaining muscle an trimming fat (like all the others). Recently though I was wondering if I should do a 30min cardio before my workout, to get my blood going in my body. Or should I do 15mins before lifting, and then 15mins cooldown after lifting. Which one will have a better effect for losing weight?
Best answer:
Answer by S H I R A Z
do a warm up of 5-10 min of very light cardio then 30 -45 min of weight training followed by 30-60 min of cardio.

Why do some people say to do ab exercises before a weight training session rather than after?
Question by GW: Why do some people say to do ab exercises before a weight training session rather than after?
Best answer:

It is to get the muscles warm and flexible, with plenty of blood flowing through them. This helps to avoid sprains etc.

is it true that cardio workout is only effective after 20 solid minutes?..?
Question by english guy 1985: is it true that cardio workout is only effective after 20 solid minutes?..?
i sometimes feel like doing 10 mins stationary cycling every hour over the course of an evening or something, but is it true that this is not effective at all, because you need to do cardio workout continuously for 20 minutes before it has any effect??!! thats what some people seem to think unless I understood it wrong!!
Best answer:
Answer by MR BIG
nope that is incorrect. Cardio is more effective if you do it a higher intensity over a shorter period of time as oppose to comprising the intesity for a longer period of time.
Ideally you can train at a high intensity for a long period of time, but this is for very elite athletes.
Good luck.
traning 10 mins every hour is a very good way to do exercise.

How sore am I supposed to be after hard weight lifting session?
Question by e: How sore am I supposed to be after hard weight lifting session?
Monday- (Chest) -I do butterfly press, bench press, cross over fly, push ups, etc…
Wednesday- (Arms) -numerous types of dumbbell curls (preacher, hammer, turning in) also work Triceps pull downs
Friday- (Shoulders) -Military press, dumbbell sets (Hold to sides, lift to chest, etc…)
I work my butt off every session to the point it’s hard to walk out of the gym on 2 legs, and even though I’m seeing good gains I just don’t feel particularly sore. Can this be normal if you’ve got a really good stretching routine and warm up and cool down properly?
Please don’t include links… This topic gets spammed to hell every time I ask a question about fitness.
I’ve been lifting hard for about 8 months. This particular routine has been about the last 2 months. I’m really getting good results, I’m just confused why I’m not more sore. However, I’ve never been ridiculously sore after a workout since I started lifting… maybe I’m just a genetic freak? Plus I have a home gym so I’m a stretching fool during my workouts since I don’t have to worry about looking stupid at the gym. As for legs, between the elliptical machine I go hard on 4 days a week, and the leg press I do during arm day, my legs are doing alright. I’d rather look like Popeye up top and have chicken legs for the time being until I get to where I want with upper body and can start hammering out the rest of my body.

Well I lift weight too. If you have recently started this workout, then you possibly are working yourself too hard. You should build up the pressure instead of just pushing yourself too much. Are you having a good diet too? How many sessions have you had? I don’t think that it’s abnormal to work out a lot (how much time are you in a session?), because I did a strength session and I was pretty tired, but I was only sore that evening of my session.
Basically, I’m trying to say that you are in a good position, and if you see results and you are getting muscle build up: your fine. Another way to understand your workouts are if you are sweating.
IF you do feel sore, in any way thats fine, you may not get that sore anymore because your body is used to it, but that again, depends when you started your workout schedule.
Hope I helped!
