How’s My Weight Loss Exercise Routine?
Question by Ronald C: How’s My Weight Loss Exercise Routine?
So as you can tell by the title I want to loss weight. I’ve lost 85 pound in about a year by doing MMA Training but I really feel like my body has gotten use to the routine at the gym. So my new routine is Mon, Wed, Fri I do Weight training working on Chest and Biceps on Monday, Legs and Shoulders on Wed and Back and Triceps on Fri. Also before I do any weight lifting I do 30 to 40 min of Stationary Bike Training changing the levels every five min. Then on Tues, Thurs and Saturday I do Tabata / Interval Training which is ten rounds of 30 sec work 30 sec rest when I do work I turn the bike on the highest level and when I rest I turn it half way down. Also on the days I do Tabata/ Interval I also do three, three min rounds of heavy bag work right after my interval. I’m also very carefully about my calorie intake I stick to a 2000 calorie a day intake. I’m currently 5″8 245 I want to get down to 190 one day but for now my goal is 200 by July is this possible and what do you think of my routine?

here are some good workout routines for you without no weights:
day 1- walk 3 miles
day 2- do 3 sets of 25 of lunges, squats, walking lunges, backward lunges, front kicks, back kicks, side kicks, jumping jacks
day 3- jog around the neighborhood, include sprints! jog for 4 minutes and sprint for 2 minutes..that should intensify your workout
day 4- go to the library and borrow a dvd of pilates or yoga! its for free and this is an excellent workout
the reason i am giving you a variety is because if you do the same workout, you may hit a plateau (meaning you stop losing weight and stop seeing results)
good luck!

how do you set up a successful work out routine?
Question by ed b: how do you set up a successful work out routine?
I am trying to set up the best possible workout routine to suit my needs. I want to build muscle, but definitely don’t feel the need to become huge. I play Ultimate Frisbee. If you don’t know what that is, it is a sport that requires me to be fast and have high endurance. Kinda similar to the speed and endurance required for a soccer player, so I want to avoid losing any of my speed and endurance. I have access to a gym at my college, so i have access to a wide variety of machines. I have been going to the gym and running on the track and doing push-ups and sit ups or whatever, but i don’t really think that it is doing too much for me anymore besides keeping me in shape, which is good I guess. I also need to incorporate running, and other aerobic exercise into it so that i don’t fall out of shape for frisbee. If you could direct me somewhere that will help me create a weight lifting routine that will best suit my needs, that would be great. Somewhere that actually gives me a good weight lifting routine for my needs would be even better. Thanks!

Insanity Workout Question?
Question by : Insanity Workout Question?
I’m thinking about purchasing Insanity because I really want an extreme cardio workout to help lean me out and get ripped. Is it ok to do Insanity and also lift weights or will that create too much strain on my body? I already have a weight lifting routine that is producing results, but I want to get cut up too. Any thoughts?

Answer by Bud
I believe that the “Insanity” method in addition to your normal workout, would be too much for your body. In your case it would be counterproductive. The “Insanity” program is more for someone that is overweight and wants to loose weight. A better idea is do your weight lifting routine every other day and aerobic exercise in the days in between. Such as: weights; Mon., Wed., Fri. Aerobics; (such as jogging or running) Tues, Thurs, Sat. Take Sunday off to allow your muscles to rest and repair. Either that or just continue with your present workout routine, but do it every day and use lighter weights and more reps for each set. It is true that you must challenge your muscles with varying routines or you will reach a plateau and not see any further results. You must be reasonably fit already so you don’t need the intensity of the “Insanity” workout.

Question by jessr2386: What is an effective daily exercise routine for a 25 yr old woman?
I would like to plan a daily exercise routine that involves sit-ups, weight lifting such as bicep curls (with 3 lb. weights), maybe using my stairmaster….. but I don’t know how many sit-ups, and bicep curls I should do a day for it to be effective? I am very slim and would like to get some toned muscles on my arms and legs and stomach.

Answer by BuffPap@50
Change the rhythm and focus on how you lift. Lift 70% of your maximum capacity and do a one count into the movement , hold for a 3 count and then one count down, or one count up, hold for one count and then a 3 count down focusing on the negative while flexing your muscles. You can also add a couple lbs per set. Do super sets, two related movements back to back.
Check out Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine workout and it will give you different options.Look at my avatar. I’m 51 yrs old and just started lifting again after a 15 yr lapse. My doc tells me I’m more fit than a lot of 20 and 30 somethings.

Question by : I want to use p90x but gain weight, I only weigh 120 lbs as it is? Help!?
I have trouble gaining weight as it is, but I hate just lifting weights I’d rather do a dvd routine like this from my dorm room. Any help would be appreciated!

Answer by AA
Your not going to gain weight without food.
Calorie surplus= growth
and they must be the right kind of calories you cant just eat sugar, and fat.
I would suggest hitting the gym over P90x, but if this is what you think you can do then P90x away.

What’s a Good 5-Day A Week Strength Training Routine?
Question by Zee: What’s a Good 5-Day A Week Strength Training Routine?
I’m 22 years old, 5’11″, 154# with 14% body fat. I’m trying to bulk up for a few months, followed by a cutting diet, where I want to lose body fat. Now during bulk up phase, I am wondering what’s the best 5-day a week strength training program like say, Monday through Friday?
Here’s my current routine:
Monday- cardio
Tuesday- back and abs
Wednesday- chest and biceps
Thursday- cardio
Friday- shoulders and abs
Saturday- legs and triceps
Sunday- Off!
I know I should limit my cardio during bulk up and that is why I want a good 5-day a week weight lifting program so I can bulk up faster. I want to get rid of my current routine because too much cardio may lead to a loss of muscle mass. Btw, my diet is excellent- I’m taking 1.5g of protein and moderate carbs to give me energy for workouts. I also drink whey protein shakes before and after workout, along with creatine. I also know that in order to grow, you must give your muscles rest.
Any idea if I should pursue 5-day a week weight lifting routine? If so, what are the best ones that give you results? Intermediate weight lifter here! THANKS!!

your workout sound ok. i’m not a fan of bulking and cutting. i prefer the max-ot way.
now you said your intermediate. so thats like in the gym a year?
then i would recommend the max-ot way. ast-ss.com
read up on what they say. they talk and talk and talk but you’ll get the point of it. the overloading.
go for the single group a day routine.
lats(back)
pecs(chest)
arms (biceps triceps and forearms)
legs(quads hamstrings and calves)
deltoids & traps (shoulders and traps-that neck type muscle)
one a day. don’t combine chest and back. different muscles completely. need separate days.
if you want to split don’t do chest and biceps . (opposing muscles)
work your chestwith triceps and your back with biceps.
that way your not in a circuit.
1.5? thats a bit too much. it’ll go waste and you’ll end up blowing quite a bit more on those shakes.
aim for 1 gram. the maximum amounts being pre and post workout and before you sleep.
ast-ss.com will give you all the info you need (very very slowly)
make sure its ast-ss not astss or whatever.
the max ot website. its free.
goodluck

Weightlifting routine?
Question by tatamanijak: Weightlifting routine?
I’ve been going to the gym 4-5 times a week for a month now. At the gym I start of with some cardio exercise like a gym bike for about 6-12 mins just to warm up. After I do some stretches and then I start weightlifting. So I do pretty much all muscle areas in a day which is not good.
I heard that it’s the best to go to gym about 3 to 4 times a week and every time do a different muscle group (or two muscle groups) so there is time for muscles to rest, grow and repair. Between the days at the gym (3 or 4 a week) I should do cardio exercises (biking or jogging).
So I’m asking you to recommend me a workout routine that is the best for gaining muscles. How many times a week, what muscle groups at the day, how many sets and reps and how much weight (like close to my limits or easier stuff)..
I’ve been thinking of following this routinehttp://www.shawnlebrunfitness.com/free-weight-lifting-routine.html Maybe you could write your routine.

A tried and true favorite is the 5×5. You work one muscle group a day, and each muscle group gets worked during the week. So you have a day for biceps, one for triceps, a day for chest, a day for back, a day for shoulders, a day for legs, and the all-important REST day.
You choose 5 exercises. You do only one set per exercise, and only 5 reps per set. That’s right. You are doing only 25 reps for your entire workout. The key is that the weight must be so heavy that each fifth rep is so difficult you may require a spotter (except for your lower back, do moderate weight for it). Rest 30 seconds between each set.
For muscle groups that have more than one muscle group (back has lower back, upper back, middle back, and legs have calves, hamstrings, and quads), you will do a 5×5 for each section. These will be your longer days.
Don’t forget that post-workout whey protein shake…only you want to slam about 50g of protein in it if you aren’t doing that much already.
After 1.5 months of doing this, my brother and I lifted and moved a sedan…and no, I wasn’t taking steroids or any supplement other than protein!
While lifting heavy 6 days, I was also doing heavy cardio 6 days a week…and eating about 2800-3100 calories a day to sustain it.
You must also remember to start off FRESH when lifting. Don’t do cardio to “warm up,” and don’t do crunches, either. Do lifting before anything else. Imagine if I asked you to do 50 push-ups right now, or to run for 3 miles and then try to do 50 push-ups. You’d be too exhausted if you ran first. Even though it’s a short amount of cardio, you still don’t want to do it. There’s no warm-up needed…you just need to lift correctly, with proper form.
